Laura Shamas, Playwright

Laura Shamas’ plays include: CIRCULAR, PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK (adaptation), PORTRAIT OF A NUDE, LADY-LIKE, CHASING HONEY, THE OTHER SHAKESPEARE, and AMELIA LIVES. From 2020-21, her work was performed by Spooky Action Theater (D.C. New Work Series and two short plays); Adobe Theater (Albuquerque); NSKIP’s STATUEFEST (NYC), where her monologue about Maria Tallchief was performed online in March, and in person in October; and Native Voices at the Autry (L.A.) FOUR WOMEN IN RED began as a ten-minute play in the November 2020 Short Play Festival at Native Voices; Shamas is a Native Voices Associated Playwright. She’s is a 2021 member of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Indigenous Writers Collaborative, where WUTHERING, her Native American adaptation of Wuthering Heights, was read in May. Jeanette Harrison, Director

Jeanette Harrison currently serves as artistic director of the award-winning AlterTheater in San Rafael, CA. At AlterTheater, she architected the ground-breaking AlterLab playwright residency program, and has shepherded more than 20 new plays to world premiere productions. She directed Alter Theater's world premiere of AlterLab commission COW PIE BINGO by Larissa FastHorse, the world premiere of CIRCULAR by Laura Shamas, and the multi-Theatre Bay Area award-winning production THE AMEN CORNER by James Baldwin. She also co-directed (with Ann Brebner) AlterLab-developed THE RIVER BRIDE by Marisela Treviño Orta, and LANDLESS by Larissa FastHorse, which won the USA Pen Literary Award in Drama. Also an award-winning actor and a television writer, she wrote a half-hour comedy about family and cultural identity, FEATHERS AND DOTS, DOTS AND FEATHERS (story by Jeanette Harrison and Sharmila Devar). She created and was Head Writer for the webseries The Breakdown. In 2019, she was part of the inaugural Native Animation Lab with LA Skins Fest, where she developed and later wrote LITTLE DRUMMER GIRL. During COVID, she began the Arts Learning Project, a virtual performing arts education program, designed for Native students and taught by professional Native artists.

Jehnean Washington as Lynda 


Jehnean Washington is a multi talented artist. Jehnean is descendant from the Yuchi, Seminole and Shoshone nations and hails from the house of the storyteller. She comes from a long line of performers, singers, and musicians. She is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. Jehnean has worked professionally for over 30 years, not only as an actress, singer/songwriter and musician within the entertainment industry’s venues of film, television, radio, voice overs, concerts, opera, and live theater. Jehnean has performed with the prestigious all Native American Mahenwahdose productions theater company as well as with and acting as assistant artistic and musical director for the legendary American Indian Theater Company. She is an Ensemble member of Native Voices at the Autry of Los Angeles, California, and is a recognized and archived actress, voice over artist, singer, songwriter, musician and storyteller with the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. and is a member of SAG-AFTRA. Her original arrangement and rendition of the "Trail of Tears Song" can be heard on the Grammy nominated album, "Song of America'' and she is a featured singer on the NAMMY award winning album SIIB. She also wrote, performed, and produced the Native American rock anthem “I Fly With You” along with the Native American musical staple, “The Greeting Song.” In her musical career she has performed and shared the stage with music greats and rock legends Buffy Sainte-Marie (Oscar Winner), Bobby Kimball (lead singer of Toto), Teddy Andreadis (Carol King & The Box Masters with Billy Bob Thornton), Butch Taylor (Dave Mathews Band), Pura Fe, Ulali, Indigo Girls, Keith Secola, Barbara McAlister, Van  Anh Vo, Du Yun, Raven Chacon, Grady Nichols and the list goes on. Jehnean sings opera with the world-famous Los Angeles based opera company The Industry. Jehnean is a singer and producer with the Listen For Life world music organization and she is also the owner of the Los Angeles based film company Lighthorsewoman Productions. She co-wrote the award-winning screenplay for the movie RAVE. “One of my greatest joys in life is singing. It is the universal language the world can come together and enjoy.”  

Rainbow Dickerson as Sadie

Rainbow Dickerson was recently named a Toronto International Film Festival Rising Star in 2020 and was a recipient of the ABC Disney Discovers program that same year. Earlier this year she received the Vancouver Film Critics Best Supporting Actress Award for her work in the feature, Beans. Other selected credits include The Patron, This is Their Land, Chicago Fire, Gone, work on Broadway, with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, American Repertory Theatre, Yale Repertory, Mixed Blood Theatre, Native Voices and many others. Dickerson trained as an actor in London and New York City, and currently resides in unceded Tongva/Gabrieleno territory. She is represented by Liberman Zerman Management and Griffin Talent and is a proud member of AEA and SAG/AFTRA.

Tanis Parenteau as Marie

Tanis is an actor/producer and member of the Métis Nation of Alberta (Cree). TV: Billions, FBI: Most Wanted, Gossip Girl, Designated Survivor, House of Cards, Tribal. NYC: The Public Theater, Signature Theater, 59E59 Theaters. Regional: Oregon Shakespeare Festival. She does voice over work and also narrates audiobooks for Penguin Random House, Audible, Hachette and Simon & Schuster. Her production company, TDEP Productions, focuses on uplifting contemporary Native stories and smashing harmful Native stereotypes. Tanis is on the SAG-AFTRA National Native Americans Committee, a member of the North American Indigenous Center of New York, the Tribal Liaison at AlterTheater and works as a casting assistant at Tbd Casting Co. Khoe King as Jo

Khoe King grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and is a proud, enrolled member of the Snohomish Tribe of Indians. She enjoys staying active in the indigenous community and volunteering. She has acted in various commercials and short films as well as being a stunt double. She loves spending time with her little 3 month old daughter and husband.
